The ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board is primarily used for drilling processes that involve the following three categories of printed circuit boards

IC Carrier

ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board is designed for use during IC Carrier manufacturing processes. As line space and layout density continue to decrease, drill bit size has decreased as well. To meet the demand for increased drilling precision, drill bits with less than 50 micron diameters have been made. The ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board provides a great option for high precision drilling processes.

HDI and Multilayer Board

The main benefit of using the ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board for HDI and Multilayer board drilling processes is a great reduction in drill bit wear and therefore increased drill bit life. The ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board increases unit production rate by enabling increases in stack height. In addition, this entry board alleviates through hole congestion caused by debris build-up. Aluminum Sheet

For micro hole diameter PCB drilling processes, it is very important to have good control over hole position accuracy. The ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board’s aluminum sheet assists the drill bit to maintain its position during the drilling process. By minimizing deviations in the drill bit’s position, the ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board helps increase drilling process capability cpk.

Hydrophilic Resin Lubricant Film

When the drill bit passes through the hole site, the ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board’s hydrophilic resin lubricant greatly decreases the process’s friction: the reduced friction not only contribute to better hole wall quality, but also to increased drill bit life by decreasing the heat of the drilling process.

In addition, the hydrophilic resin lubricant has been specially formulated to easily discharge debris. The lubricant’s great heat resistance prevents drill bits from breaking due to residual debris.

Combining the benefits provided by the aluminum sheet and the hydrophilic resin lubricant, the ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board greatly increases drilling process capability cpk by maintaining the drill bit’s position during the drilling process. Structural Comparison

The ML Drill Lubricant Entry Board features a specially formulated lubricant film that can be directly applied onto the aluminum sheet via single layer precision coating techniques. The entry board’s simple composition ensures consistent lubricant film quality and increases ease of cleansing.

Other lubricant entry boards have a primer layer in between their lubricant film and aluminum sheet. These primers are usually non-hydrophilic, and are usually too hard: the hard primer increases wear on drill bits and therefore decreases drill bit life.

When an ordinary aluminum sheet is used for high speed drilling processes, the drill bit will slide on the surface of the aluminum sheet: this increases the likelihood for broken drill bits and decreases drilling precision.
